Kabwe Warriors Football Club joins FAWUZ
The Footballers and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (FAWUZ) has hailed the outstanding performance by Kabwe Warriors Football Club that has seen them to the top of the premier league table. Addressing the Kabwe Warriors FC players after their training at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium in kabwe on Monday, FAWUZ General Secretary Joe Kaunda said the team has been resilient and focused , He wished the team all the success in its quest for league glory. He also emphasized the importance of the players joining the union, so that they would remain focused on their great performance on the pitch while FAWUZ concentrated on representing them in all aspects of their welfare and employment. He also spoke of the services that the Union was offering such as representation, Financial Literacy, assistance with contract interpretation, including legal services and advise with the in-house lawyer even during negotiations. He further highlighted programmes that the union offers on player welfare and conditions of service, post career programmes including tailored insurance services to suit the players. Kaunda also spoke about the Zed Card initiative which is an informative booklet produced in conjunction with the global players union FiFpro that has all the necessary information a player would want in his/her playing career. The booklet which was distributed to all players contains the dos and don'ts for a footballer concluding how to conduct themselves, also what teams should do before the match and what foods a player should eat including anti doping and substance abuse messages. Players Relations officer Kelvin Mushipe told the players about the importance of signing up to be union member as FAWUZ had an open door policy towards in terms of support to its members but also accommodated non members who were in need of assistance. Legal Counsel Friday Mwandila told the players that if they ever faced any challenges during their playing FAWUZ would represent them whether it be anything to do with their contracts or if a player has an injury. FAWUZ has embarked on an extensive membership recruitment drive with the visit to Kabwe having been part of the programme.
The Union is affiliated to the World players Union FIFPro and will be rolling out player targeted programmes as part of this mandate.
