Zambia's Triumph: A Ticket to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations

 Saturday last week, the stage was set for an exhilarating match between Zambia and Ivory Coast.  it was a must win game for Zambia  to  secure a coveted spot in the upcoming 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. The football world was abuzz with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited the outcome of this crucial clash.

The match took place in the bustling city of Ndola. The stadium was packed with passionate supporters, clad in the national colors, creating an electric atmosphere. The Zambian team, known as the Chipolopolo, had been preparing tirelessly for this moment, hoping to overcome the formidable Ivory Coast team and secure their place in the prestigious tournament.

As the referee blew the whistle, the game commenced with both teams displaying remarkable skill and determination. The Ivory Coast team, known for their physicality and technical prowess, posed a formidable challenge for Zambia. However, the Chipolopolo were unyielding, employing a strategic game plan that showcased their teamwork and finesse.

The game kicked off with a fast-paced start, as both teams displayed their skills and determination. Zambia took an early lead in the 15th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Ivory Coast. Which resulted in an own goal, forced by Fashion Sakala who showcased exceptional composure in front of the defender  the stadium erupted with joy as Zambia took the lead, 1-0 until half time .


As the second half commenced, Ivory Coast seemed determined to equalize the score. However, the Zambian team showed their mettle and continued to dominate the game. In the 60th minute, Zambia doubled their lead through a sensational close-range strike by Patson Daka. The goal left the crowd in awe and increased the home team's advantage to 2-0.

Despite the two-goal deficit, Ivory Coast fought valiantly, launching several promising attacks. However, the Zambian defense, led by the indomitable Stophira Sunzu, stood firm, denying their opponents any breakthrough. The passionate Zambian supporters cheered with every successful clearance, encouraging their team to hold onto their lead.


Motivated by their previous success, Zambia maintained their attacking prowess and pressed forward relentlessly. Their efforts paid off in the 75th minute when Kings Kangwa  scored their third goal of the match, sealing a comprehensive victory for the home team. The final score stood at Zambia 3, Ivory Coast 0. Lawrence  Mulenga the Zambian goalkeeper exhibited exceptional reflexes and made several crucial saves, ensuring a clean sheet for the team.

The final whistle brought an explosion of joy and celebration as the Zambian team basked in the glory of their resounding victory after 8 years of not going to the Africa cup of Nations ,fans  the chanting and dancing in jubilation. The players embraced each other, their hearts filled with pride and elation for their hard-fought achievement.

As the news spread, the people of Zambia erupted in celebration. The streets were filled with cheering fans, waving flags, and honking car horns. It was a moment of national unity and pride, as Zambia had not only secured their place in the Africa Cup of Nations but also showcased their immense talent on the international stage.
