I WAS ALMOST SCAMMED BY A FAKE AGENT
Emmanuel Musa a talented young footballer from Siavonga playing for Turban’s F.C Like many aspiring footballers, Emmanuel had dreams of playing for a top European club and representing his club and country at the international level.
One day, while scrolling through his social media feed, Emmanuel received a message from someone claiming to be an agent representing a well-known European football club. The agent, who introduced himself as mike Johnson, said he had watched Emmanuel's highlight videos and was impressed with his skills. He was eager to represent Emmanuel and secure him a spot on a European team.
Emmanuel was ecstatic. He couldn't believe his luck; his dreams seemed to be finally coming true. He shared the news with his friends, who were equally excited and supportive. The agent asked Emmanuel to send him a copy of his passport, football CV. Emmanuel, without hesitation, complied with the request, hoping that things would move quickly.
Over the next couple of weeks, mike Johnson kept in touch with Emmanuel, discussing the European club's interest and negotiating terms for a potential contract. Emmanuel's excitement grew with each passing day.
Finally, the day arrived when mike told Emmanuel that the club was ready to sign him. There was just one small hitch - the club required a "registration fee" of $2,000 to process the transfer and finalize the contract. Mike assured Emmanuel that this was a standard procedure, and once the fee was paid, he would be on his way to Europe.
Then Emmanuel came across one of FAWUZ Post about fake Agents, and decided to contact the secretariat to find out more about the post he found. The communication department invited Emmanuel to come and have a brief back ground about the story.
After interacting with Emmanuel it was discovered that the mike is a fake agent from Nigeria who has been targeting young players from different African countries claiming to be in Europe.
FAWUZ communication’s and player relations explained to Emmanuel and gave him some of the examples of people who have been scammed by fake agents, helped him to understand the right process and the channel to use.
Emmanuel thanked FAWUZ for saving him from being scammed by mike the fake agent and urged other player not to fall for the same trick.
The experience with the fake agent had taught him a valuable lesson about the importance of vigilance and the pitfalls awaiting young, aspiring athletes. Through resilience and perseverance, Emmanuel was able to turn his setback into a stepping stone, using the experience to fuel his ambition and never losing sight of his dreams.
