FAWUZ WELCOMES FOOTBALL STAKEHOLDER UNITY

We fully support the decisions by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and ABSA to postpone respectively the ABSA CUP and the FAZ MTN Super League until further notice in order to protect public health due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, we welcome the leadership role by FAZ to call for a sense of unity and shared responsibility across the football industry.

FAWUZ salutes FIFPRO and FIFA on their joint efforts and FIFA’s initiative to set up a global assistance fund to help members of the football community affected by this coronavirus.

For all workers in our industry, including the thousands of professional footballers in Zambia and around the globe, it’s important that they and their families have stability during this uncertain period.

This is particularly relevant outside the game’s elite, where the industry has fragile finances.

Lastly, we are encouraged by Government of the republic of Zambia’s plan to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

We are looking at measures to handle the socio-economic impact of the pandemic’s disruption on football. We look forward to contributing in this area on behalf of players.

Thank you
