The death of Justin Shonga is a huge blow to football in our country, FAWUZ Vice president Mr. Noel Mwandila has said.

Mwandila, who led a delegation of FAWUZ executive members and secretariat staff that went to the funeral home in Lusaka, said the players union was deeply saddened by the death and offered  their profound condolences.

"He touched so many people with his skills on the pitch. You have seen all the people in the soccer frantenity that have responded, even CAF the continental body has shared their sadness over his passing," he said. "He was our member and part of the FAWUZ family, as he had signed up for membership when he was playing for the national team, so we have come to give our support. 
In a moment with the Shonga family representative, Mr Philimon Shonga , Mr Mwandila urged the family to remain resolute even at a time of such a huge loss as people countrywide were celebrating their son's impact in the game of football.

He said Shonga's life in football had offered the upcoming players an example of how to apply themselves and develop in the game.
During the visit to the funeral house, FAWUZ also donated various foodstuffs to help the family and mourners during the funeral. 

Mwandila was accompanied by fawuz general Secretary Joe Kaunda, treasurer Kelvin Mushipe, head of media Innocent Chongo, media officer Ruth Mumba and Assistant administration officer Natalie Kabaghe.
